  62. Newcomer's Island(#1603RDA)
  63. This appears to be a rather constrictive inkwell, jammed full of characters. A little bit of Vulpes Flourinectie ink drops on you; through it one can see the rose garden that's out there and the people in it. Among other things, the world outside the inkwell offers housing that isn't so cramped, or so wet.
  64.
  65. You might choose to visit the Rose Garden by typing 'out', or the park of the day by typing 'park'. You can return to this area by typing 'new'. If you're new to MUCKing, you can get a short list of important commands by typing 'commands'.
  66.
  67. If you'd like a character, you can page a wizard who's on duty -- they're listed by typing 'wizzes' -- or if none are available, send an email with the name you want and some information about your character to character@spindizzy.org and if there's no difficulties, the persona will be created. It's highly recommended to take look around SpinDizzy and talk to other residents before requesting a character.
  68.
  69. If you *have* a character and would like automated help setting it up, or re-setting it, you may wish to try typing the 'setup' command from here. You can get help finding a home by typing 'homefinder', or type 'homefinder #help' for more options.
  70.
  71. If you need help, try paging helpstaff or a wizard (type 'helpstaff' or 'wizzes' for a list of such people), or for basic help type 'commands'.

Most of the space here is taken up by a complex called the Ephemeris Apartments, although the four-story digital clock tower across the street is the area's most prominent landmark.
  188. The surrounding buildings are a variety of small shops and cafes - the sort you'd expect to see in any moderately-sized shopping area. One in particular stands out - its name, in glowing green neon Sanskrit-styled lettering, is Club Shiva; a sign on the door reads "All Ages and Species Welcome".

  204. Clock Tower - Top Floor
  205. You're inside a massive room, easily over 100 feet tall. The walls of the clock tower's top floor are the gigantic electric displays that show everyone outside the time. The titanic numerals provide most of the lighting in the room, causing every surface to flicker a little as the digits change. From the interior they are reversed, but if read backwards the time is currently 16:41:38.
  206. Wires and shiny bits of electric gadgets dangle from the ceiling and from numerous metal boxes placed around the edges of the room under the displays. Upon closer inspection you realize that these are large computers full of blinking lights, that apparently run the clock. A closer look might be interesting...
  207. A cavernous bell hangs from the center of the room, looming above you and making the entire room and everything in it seem small in comparison. Apparently it's not in use, because you can see a ladder leading up inside. A spiral staircase curves around the bell, leading from the floor in front of the bell up to a door high up in the ceiling.

  267. Club Shiva - Entrance
  268. A small room - maybe ten feet by twenty - with the street entrance at the middle of one of the long walls and the door leading to the club itself in the other. The lighting is fairly dim but not totally dark; in particular, there are small spotlights on overhead track lighting that illuminate a poster on the wall and a pair of metallic pedestals bolted to the floor, each one bearing a multifaceted crystal on the top. 278. This is a rough cylinder about half a meter tall and half a meter in diameter, composed mainly of an intricate multi-layered woven pattern of chromed steel. A shimmering blue crystal is set into the top, its many facets transforming anything seen through it into a kaleidoscope of fragmented images. There are fiberoptic conduits running from the crystal down into the base, where a multitude of smaller crystals glimmer and occasionally give off sparks. It's an odd device, but somehow it wouldn't look out of place as the barrel of a transformation ray-gun, which is sort of what it is.
  279. The Multiplexer is a device that temporarily refracts space and matter, multiplying whatever the main crystal touches in unpredictable ways. This particular one has been tweaked specifically for use by humanoids (i.e. people who stand upright on two legs). The effects never last more than an hour or so, and there are no (known) side-effects. To use the Multiplexer, simply touch the crystal (type 'touch blue crystal' (or just 'touch blue') to activate it and 'untram' to change back).

This fox hybrid seems to be wearing a kind of exotic hat, probably to keep heat from being radiated out through those giant ears. They seem a bit out of place on an otherwise snow white arctic. There are faded grey markings on their snout that start at their eyes and stream down to their mouth and tyrian dashing lines of trim, geometric circuit trace patterns, inscribed with shapes-in-shapes, markings, and logotypes in an alien runic alphabet all over their body. You see a bushy black-tipped tail, fluffy black paw gloves with sharp white claws and pink pads. You swear to occasionally see small electrical sparks jump from the claws.

The left wall is mostly taken up by a bar, while the right wall has booths and tables arranged in front of it. Oddly, none of the chairs seem to have backs. 401. Patashu's Personal Quarters(#29396RLJA)
  402. While the base is constantly busy manufacturing and researching and testing and shipping and soforth, Patashu often desires to have a space of his own to work on personal projects or to have discussions with friends and associates. The quarters start with an open foyer of sorts - having a lounge and holographic computer systems, workbenches and scientific equipment and a table (with the company logo emblazoned in gold along its surface) that can be used for conferences, gaming and eating just as easily. (Of course, there are amneties for organic visitors - food, water, beds and all!) (Oh yes, and there IS a pile of 'cushions' and 'beanbags'.) From the holographic screens, all activity of the base can be monitored, and base databases/security feeds accessed. Off to one side, a personal hangar has a huge, rotary rack of different robotic parts and even alternate bodies that can be swapped into and out of, as well as a maintenance system with automated scaffold lined with robotic arms. Kobolds clean, maintain and can be called upon for any necessary task. Posters and blueprints line many of the walls, some of them of products the base builds, some of them gaming related or based on legendary mecha, and the noise of the surrounding base is (mostly) dampened.

This is not a static world full of static people - it grows and develops.

A miniaturized river flows with water, passing by a farmhouse and surrounding crops, and a cardboard mountain range and forest is set up opposite. A model train system runs stops between a few stations. Roads snake outwards into two rival military bases - the draconic Burning Claw and the gryphon-run Yarthanian Empire - with model defensive turrets, tanks, planes and mechwalkers strewn about, even 8ft high collapsible cardboard 'hangars' if you'd like to roleplay deploying out of the ground to wreak havoc! 541. Feedback City: Section 1 [S5 E1 D3]
  542. Section 1 of Feedback City is kept in moonless night, broken by the tiny flashes of light on the resident machinery and their tools. The air is dry and held at a temperature a few degrees above freezing; conductors worked into the paving bleed off any static that might accumulate. A few robots of anthropoid or therioid construction walk the streets, but most citizens have given up a permanent physical form (if they had one in the first place) and reside in hidden engines of computation.
  543.
  544. This doesn't mean the city is empty. Gliders riding beams of microwave power to act as communal eyes-in-the-sky and battery-backed quad-copters carrying light parcels zip through the air, bright pinpoint flashes and radio beacons letting the world know their locations. Special purpose equipment transports itself, and rolling or walking trucks carry their burdens along. It is not at all obvious which machines are guided by a mind and which by a dumb heuristic. Most work goes on inside various buildings, with individuals reaching out to take bodies like tools for as long as they need them.
  545.
  546. While the city isn't empty or still, it is lacking in interaction. Transports avoid each other, but the inhabitants don't meet to socialize or greet each other when they pass. All their conviviality and heated discussions are carried through wireless and hard-line links invisible to un-enhanced flesh. Terminals dot the landscape to allow those so disadvantaged to communicate with the inhabitants.

  568. A meter-wide 30 centimeter tall cylindrical pedistal, a thicker top and bottom over a vaguely corinthic-styled 'pillar' center. Pale dulled white stone, centuries old, but cleaned of dirt much more recently, a statue of a robe-clad male feline-person (tail poking out the robe bottom) stands atop. There's a very thourough attention to detail, emphasizing the motion and the gesture of offering a thick book to the presumed people in front of it, leaning forward, tail curved in a happy and animated pose, looking like it could leap off the pedistal, yet frozen eternally where it stands. At a distance it looks like a Roman-style sculpture, but the style when seen up close is a telltale baroque, indicative of 17th century Europe.
  569. An amulet rests on the statue's chest, part of the statue with a recently-reset inset gem. The statue's chest seems to whisper among the voices of spirits, its head carrying thoughts which a telepath may read, its ears radiating on the microwave bands, powered by some sort of passive device hidden within its torso. Curiously, all the messages are the same on the same channel... The statue is a good ornament, but it's also a device for sharing information and info-tools between technological devices, magical constructs, and psychic manifestations.

  582. Feedback City: Section 1 [S5 E1 D3]
  584.
  586.
  588.
  589. Three rapid conveyor-lines provide access to the rest of the city.

  610. A thin, dim atmosphere covers this sparse non-world beneath the continent. Towards any light, a deep blue would be seen, otherwise, stars shine above, brighter than bright. All around, brown and grey crag, sharp, spiked, and lacking erosion. Fortunately there are also patches of navigable dirt, even if the crag makes travel difficult.
  611.
  612. Near the north, slightly to the west in this sector (that would be south and east on the surface) is a gaping hole in this craggy landscape, leading to the lush, verdant 'surface' below. Stretching away from the edge is a tunnel, silvery lines seen on the landscape, the tunnel exiting into a charred, torn crater. The Flipside Crater contains metallic shrapnel and scrap as well as some organic compounds. Apparantly something -used- to stand there, but it's been lost to two catastrophic explosions, of thermonuclear proportions, though no fallout is seen. The two merged craters form a single structure, produced during the Nov. 11 2012 Operation Flipside.

The rear of the kinetic pod has been folded out as stabilization struts, the nose dug in as an anchor, a series of metal rods stabilizing a stack of telecommunications equipment. A series of satellite dishes and antennae rise from the top, the centerline equipment standing over what appears to be a radioactive-decay fed quantum computer in what's effectively a vacuum tube. A self-stratifying RTG fission generator powered by a multistage decay of Californium 251 looks like it could power this heavy, steel-plated apparatus for just over 1,500 years.

  637. Crag towers above on all sides, uneroded rock and regolith displaying the visage of a barren world before you. Surprisingly, you likely won't need a space suit, even if breathing is difficult in this thin, cold atmosphere. The tenuous spindizzy field overhead casts down the dimmest of light, barely enough to see by, under a faint auroric tone, particles cought in the field. Clearly, in fact, almost harshly visible are the stars and nebulae of the galaxy the world's moving through. There is no day and night here, only space and time.
  638.
  639. Be warned, the rocks show the grooves of pressure and scraping. The underside is not a safe place to be when this world lands for refueling. If you wish to build, keep this in mind!

  646. Ferrite Dunes [UND N4 E4](#11614RLJ)
  647. The crag parts to reveal ever thinner and finer stone and terrain, eventually gradiating into rolling grey dunes of fine sandy regolith, the winds descending from the nearby hills occasionally stirring up a black sandstorm, the cold, thin, barely breathable yet very rapidly moving atmosphere creating a 'black mars' effect. Unobstructed by towering crag, the auroric lights above provide still poor but somewhat improved lighting, the stars and galaxy beyond shining crisp down upon the cold desert.
  648.
  649. It seems the dunes are made primarily of ejecta from the many meteors that hit the bottom of Spindizzy, as well as the constant rain of micrometeors, giving the sands an occasional speck of metallic glint, iridium, iron and nickel present in the dust, both in meteoric form and from powderized volcanic stone. A harsh terrain indeed, but the glimmering metallic sparks on the dark dunes beneath the permanently vibrant sky creates a truly celestial scene, though the fact that these dunes are rearranged with every Spindizzy landing makes a note of ephemerality.

  761. Skai's swapped out his usual battlemage gear for something a bit more traditional and comfortable!
  762. Judging from the warm colorations of his avian plumage and gear, one could safely assume he's a phoenix. Roughly about six feet tall, and looking to be about 25 years in age or so, he's clad in showy, fine silks of varying shades of red, crimson and maroon. Orange feathers with a slight blue tip to them affirm even more the heat he throws off; a heat which he seems perfectly fine with. Or perhaps something is holding it in as insulation?
  763.
  764. Starting from the bottom up, his avian claws plant against the ground, clad in pale maroon scale patterns. Bangles of coppery-gold are set above each footclaw, with orange, translucent silken strands attached that run up to his thighs, attached to another set up bands just below where his feathers begin.
  765.
  766. His tailfeathers behind him are separated into two tiers of a sort: A bunch of short, orange feathers, ending in light-blue slight gradients, while the longer two tailfeathers drift down and broaden out a bit towards their ends. Two sets of thick fabric sashes wrap around him just above the waist. One is patterned with slightly lighter stripes that dangles down in front of him, while the other, dotted and striped, runs around his entire waist in a set of layers, tied on his right side. A set of coppery baubles attached to a similarly colored chain hangs lopsided off the top sash.
  767.
  768. Lighter orange, creamy feathers grace his frame as eyes continue upwards, noting that his arms have some decoration, as well. His left has another set of bands with that same translucent silk tied between them, and his right arm also shares these, making it symmetrical! The left has a small orange piece of thicker fabric tied at the wrist, and an additional band on his bicep.
  769.
  770. His wings rest behind him in a relaxed stance, starting with orange covert feathers that match the rest of his body, tapering towards cream at the primaries, secondaries, and tertiaries, and becoming a slight blue towards the tips!
  771.
  772. His chest fluffs out some near his neck, ringed by a necklage of orange crystals, which are then partially covered up by a dark red scarf embroidered with golden thread patterns that takes the place of his typical armor mantly.
  773.
  774. For this outfit, he's not put his glasses on that are present with his mage gear, and his headfeathers are styled back into an upward-trending crest, slightly relaxed and messier than usual. Those piercing blue eyes contrasting against the orange feathers are ever present.

  810. Spindizzy Underside [UND N6 E4](#11529RLJ)
  812.
  813. Be warned, the rocks show the grooves of pressure and scraping. The underside is not a safe place to be when this world lands for refueling. If you wish to build, keep this in mind!

  822. Wound in the Underworld [UND N6 E2](#23089RLJ)
  824.

  833. Behind Spindizzy(#23097RLJ)
  834. An eternal twilight sets in as the larger Spindizzy eclipses its own light. Only the light of the thin air and weak confinement field liberate the landscale below from complete darkness. All around the bottom of Spindizzy is a nearly featureless crag, brown and grey with dirt and stone, though among the stone, occasionally colorful outcroppings of blue, yellow, green, darks and lights are seen, a variety of stone. If one wanted to set down out in the middle of nowhere and maybe dig a little, they could try their piloting skill and land in the crag, at their own risk.
  835.
  836. Near the center, a series of open tunnels and ports glow with a fair light, the mechanisms within spiralling and turning, the engines of Spindizzy itself, complete with gravitational 'jetwash' behind. Nothing truly harmful, though thankfully it does blow away small debris, protecting the underside from a hailstorm of meteors and debris.
  837.
  838. Halfway towards the outer edge, a hole is seen in Spindizzy, the wound in the world, leading clean through to the other side. Nearby, red beams of light, barely visible at distance, stretch into space, marking the position of a farpost of some kind. Its configuration, along with the radio and psionic transponders seen at the site, suggests it belongs to the people often known (some would say erroneously) as 'The Starman Empire' due to their robots. They were a most overwhelmingly dangerous empire once upon a time, but now, due to the Giygas incident, their people have split into many factions of different philosophy. Those beams of light do seem to act as a navigational aid, surprisingly inviting to incoming spacecraft.

  845. You pass around the periphery of Spindizzy, finding the outcropping protruding out of the field, and passing in through one of the exposed side tunnels.
  846. Abydos Spaceport(#6962RLJ)
  847. This entire facility consists of four rooms. Three rooms which are in essence tunnels, a central tunnel 100 meters square by many kilometers long, stretching far into the distance, one side tunnel on each side, 80 meters square and the same length, and at the rear of it all, a machinery room, 150 meters square in all dimensions.
  848.
  849. The central tunnel seems to be a solid square tunnel with four supported rods holding up a seemingly endless series of stone rings. Curiously, a magnetic field feeds through the rods and rings, though this is not a purely magnetic device... as the rings spin, their magnetic fields interact to the same effect as the Spindizzy engine itself, creating a solenoidal gravity field that can fire any projectile down its length. Metal flanges, lubricated with a molecular carbon sheet, elimate almost all friction in the assembly. It's completely in vacuum, the far end terminating at the end of the cliff, exiting out into space, the tunnel bordered by spindizzy field doors. The spindizzy field hitting the terrain seems to be redirected, used as force field doors which simply part on stepping through, though they're more than strong enough to bat air molecules back where they came.
  850.
  851. The two side tunnels, the exit to the surface connecting to one, carry a thin but breathable atmosphere, appearing to be transit tunnels for arriving spacecraft, the far ends covered in a spindizzy field cap thin enough for an arriving spacecraft to pass through without bleeding off atmosphere. The bottom of the tunnels have several square indented landing pads with banks of various curiously complex manual and powered tools nearby, though the power source is oddly unseen.
  852.
  853. The rearmost room seems to be a control center and hardware room, several stacks of floating disks on a bulbous windowed contraption, lined with the spindizzy field passing through it, highly concentrated... this is a siphon that seems to draw power from the field. Liquids serve as conductors, the room lined with highly complex stainless metal assemblies, filled with liquid, control computers, operating on analog logic. The displays seem to be mechanical, with rolling displays of symbols. It appears to be a system of heiroglyphics modified to fit neatly on a mass produced typeface and adapted to include advanced concepts. Indeed, it looks rather 'neo-egyptian', capable of being translated by looking at ancient egyptian heiroglyphics and making some leaps of logic. Looks like they had recorded a fair bit of spacecraft traffic... though the fact that these computers link to Spindizzy Navigation, and the facility can apparantly launch a projectile as fast as the structure of the -mountain- can handle, far more than any reasonable spaceship would need, launching ships likely isn't the only function.
  854.
  855. Despite having advanced metallurgy knowledge, these people have taken a liking to stonework and other inert materials... perhaps the fact that this facility is still operational and eager to launch ships after centuries of neglect is an indication as to their logic?

1053. Pari gives Kamare an extra-rare smile: not just a smile, but a broad, near-manic grin, as though she were just *waiting* for someone to ask. With a flourish that suggests she's not especially practiced with handling a sword, she proceeds to swipe the blade up the length of the bottle, in a way that suggests she IS practiced with using them to open bottles. The champagne is thus uncorked with a satisfying pop, and she proceeds to pour the foaming wine into her open mouth. She spills as much into her ruffs and onto her chest, the tigress swallowing convulsively and ruining what dignity she might usually lay claim to, before holding sword and bottle both aloft and barking, "Year of the Tiger, bitches!" There's a pause, and she clears her throat. "I'm a touch late because I don't actually follow zodiacal nonsense." She blinks a few times, clearly regretting her choice of pouring champagne down the front of her dress. "But, yes. Hello. Does anyone want champagne?"

A little bit of Vulpes Flourinectie ink drops on you; through it one can see the rose garden that's out there and the people in it. 1121.
